Very trampled trail! I can’t believe how busy it was, well I can, but I wish it wasn’t. I drove up from NYC the morning of the hike, setup camp at Meadowlands campground and drove back to the trailhead. Parking lot(s) were full at 3pm when I started. People I talked to said the summit of Cascade was pretty well socked in and they had poor views.

I got made pretty good time and felt good on the climb up. The trail was unbelievably trampled and widened out by people walking around the mud. It was pretty disappointing to see honestly. There was a trail steward there and I’m sure that helped.

I opted to hit Porter first, it was less trafficked and I was getting a little annoyed with all the people. The traverse over was very muddy, but I eventually reached the top. Had some great views of the High Peaks to the North West (I think?).

Backtracked and headed up Cascade, much easier climb. It was just a walk up the rock face. A handful of people up there and the wind was absolutely whipping. Probably 40+ mph wind gusts. Didn’t hang out long, had to get back to camp after all!
