Trail notes from Rocky and Lone, part of the Catskill 3500 challenge.

Trail notes recorded post hike, added here in their fairly raw state.

Really enjoyed this hike. Came to the realization while trying to follow the herdpaths, that if you just follow your instinct/intuition that you usually just automatically follow the herdpath. And that herdpaths are basically just desire paths.
It took a few tries to find the top of Lone Mountain, made a few loops. The herdpaths from people, animals, who knows! It was a maze.

How hard is it to find a bright orange cannister!?

There was a very recent burn scar at the top of Rocky, I looked and the DEC rangers were up there a week prior. Unattended camp fire that got out of control.

Beautiful day out. Made my own way down on the completion loop off of Rocky, there was basically no path. Ended up just rock hopping down the stream bed.

Smashed my knee pretty good on the way down, that felt great!

Must have been 20+ cars in the parking lot but I only saw 1 group at the top of rocky, and 2 people fishing the brook. Where was everyone!?!
